Additional Information
The categories above are titled according to U.S. standard titles and career trajectories. Below is a list of the categories and their relevant equivalents in case there is doubt about your status for both membership and conference registration. If you have any questions about the category to which you belong, please do not hesitate to reach out to the executive director or program committee.
- Senior Faculty/Tenured – This category is for those who have already earned a permanent position and have passed the tenure procedures to ensure continued employment at one’s institution. This includes titles such as: Associate Professor, Professor, etc. This also includes Senior Lecturers who have earned promotion above entry-level status.
- Junior Faculty/Not Yet Tenured – This category is for those who currently have full-time, tenure-track, or permanent positions such as Assistant Professor, Lecturer, Researcher, or other permanent employment types. What is considered permanent varies from institution to institution, but in general, if one has an open-ended contract or tenure-track appointment, then Junior is the category it fits.
- Contingent/Retired – This category is for those who are on year-to-year type contracts or limited-term contracts, such as short-term postdocs (those without career trajectory commitments) that are tied to research funding. This also includes visiting or temporary appointments when other employment is not guaranteed. This category is also for retired faculty/researchers who no longer have budgetary support from their universities.
- Student – This category is for currently enrolled PhD, Master, or Bachelor students. Once one obtains a PhD and is no longer enrolled as a student, one is no longer eligible for this category of membership/registration.
Please Note: If your membership is not current, you will not be able to register for the conference as a member. Please sign up for membership, or renew your membership prior to filling out the conference registration form. Membership information is below.
